You’ll soon be able to see Zac Efron as notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in new biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Directed by Joe Berlinger (who also directed Netflix’s The Ted Bundy Tapes), the movie premiered earlier this year at Sundance to strong reviews, especially for Efron’s performance as Bundy.

The movie also stars Lily Collins as Bundy’s girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, Kaya Scodelario as Bundy’s wife Carole Ann Boone and John Malkovich as Edward Cowart, the judge who convicted Bundy in 1979.

But Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile isn’t receiving a traditional cinema release, so how and when can you see it?

The Bundy biopic was picked up by Sky Cinema in June 2018, along with Life Itself and recent Matthew McConaughey flop Serenity.

Not the best company to be in but fear not, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is compelling viewing and Efron is fantastic as Bundy. You can see for yourself when the movie arrives on Sky Cinema and in selected cinemas on May 3.

Given that it’s a day-and-date release though, if you want to see it on the big screen, you won’t be able to see it at any of the major cinema chains in the UK.

Odeon, Cineworld and Vue all stick to the traditional theatrical window of four months between cinema release and home release. That means any movie available to watch at home on the same day as its cinema release won’t be screened in any of their cinemas.

Instead you’ll have to stick to independent cinemas and smaller chains like Curzon to see the movie on the big screen. We won’t know which cinemas are showing it though until nearer its release of May 3.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile on Netflix
Given the deal with Sky Cinema, it means that Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile won’t be available to watch on Netflix in the UK.

The streaming giant picked up US rights, as well as selected foreign territories, following the movie’s successful Sundance premiere and will release the movie on May 3 at the same time as the UK release.

A theatrical release in the US is reportedly planned in order to qualify the movie for awards season.

It’s unlikely that Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will come to Netflix in the UK, but if you don’t have Sky Cinema, you can either subscribe to Sky, buy a Now TV pass, or technically watch it for free with their online trial – if you are clever with the Now TV Sky Cinema Pass.

(The Sky Cinema Pass is currently available on a seven-day trial, then it’s £11.99 a month thereafter if you carry on with it.)

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is released on May 3 in UK cinemas and on Sky Cinema.
